The Laos Cooking Class by Sofitel Luang Prabang begins with an early morning visit to the bustling Luang Prabang market. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere as you explore the vibrant stalls and select fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

 

 

Join our hands-on cooking session with an expert chef, who will answer your questions and ignite your culinary curiosity. The session concludes with a delicious breakfast, crafted by you, and served at the serene Governor’s Grill restaurant.

 

Children over the age of 6 are welcome to join this fun and creative exploration of Lao culture. Let us know if you have young participants, and we’ll ensure your family visit to Luang Prabang is unforgettable.

 

Half-day class: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM followed by lunch including soft drinks

MENU TO CHOOSE:

1. Naem Dip Phak – A Lao-style fresh rice paper roll filled with local vegetables, herbs, avocado dip and rice noodles, served with peanut sauce

2. Salad Mak Muang – Shredded mango salad with local herbs and dried shrimps

3. Tom Som Paa – Fish and pineapple sour soup with Lao herbs

4. Tom Som Kai – Chicken and tamarind sour soup with Lao herbs

5. Kao Soi – Breakfast rice noodle soup with local herbs and fermented beans

6. Phanaeng Kai – Chicken curry cooked in a traditional Lao way in coconut milk

7. Oua Si-Khai Mhoo – Minced pork seasoned with herbs and spices, stuffed into lemongrass stalks

8. Ping Paa – Traditional Lao-style grilled river fish marinated with lemongrass, garlic, chili, shallots and local herbs, served with tamarind sauce.

9. Mak Kruay Thod – Lao style fried banana with sesame and honey served with vanilla ice cream

10. Num Wan Mak Kruay – Banana and sago pearls cooked in coconut milk

11. Khao Niao Ping – Grilled sweet sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf
